VOLUNTEERS AT THE
FRESNO HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Be a part of history by volunteering with the Fresno Historical Society! The role that volunteers play is vital to fulfilling the Society’s mission of preserving and sharing our region’s history. People with special skills, flexible schedules, and an interest in history are welcome to join our volunteer program. There is a broad range of opportunities available from administrative jobs in the Society office to archives positions assisting with research, and organizing and describing collections, to special projects. Volunteers are also an essential part of the Society’s team during our major annual events such as the Civil War Revisited living history program and the Historic Home Tour.

BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING

We hope that every volunteer at the Fresno Historical Society benefits from their experience in a variety of ways. The opportunity to learn about Fresno County history, develop new skills and contribute to the community is all a part of volunteering.

Active volunteers also receive a 20% discount in our museum store and on society membership (must be a volunteer at the time of purchase or renewal).

THE FHS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

There are two main categories of Fresno Historical Society Volunteers:

ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS are individuals who donate six or more hours a month to FHS. A new volunteer will be considered active once they have volunteered for three consecutive months.

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEERS donate their time at one or more FHS special events during the year. Such events include the Civil War Revisited and the Historic Home Tour.

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Volunteer hours are generally available Monday through Friday from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm. Hours are flexible. During special events, volunteers may be needed also for evenings and weekends.
